SCREWED

SCREWED
by Der Claus, Germany

exhibit Nr.47

Screw in an original Red-Cross-insulating-screw-joint, which actually has the mere use of functioning as bone substitute (i.e. the insulating screw joint, not the screw itself) (as the screw is a piece of art).

The screw as a 'connecting element' is a long-known concept, esp. in the field of craftsmanship. With 'SCREWED' the artist managed to functionalise the 'connecting concept (R)' and simultaneously even surpassed it by connecting living with dead material. To achieve this, the screw was implanted into the artist's very own body for several months (organic), and later removed again. see 'Sacrifice', 'Martyrdom'
